A small pouring bowl, hand thrown by Simon Horton and reduction fired in South Oxfordshire in a small gas kiln of his own making. In a traditional Japanese style, high-calcium glaze — typically made from wood ash, rice husks and feldspar, producing a off-white glaze with speckles of dark brown, characteristic of reduction firing. With an admiration for pots quiet, understated and modest, Simon finds inspiration from medieval slipware to early Chinese and Korean pottery and feeds this back into his work. Height of 7cm, and a diameter of 10cm, approximately.
