Scandinavian Puukko knife making kit
£60.00
Ex Tax: £50.00
A nordic bushcraft knife and sheath making kit from Sweden. Included in the kit is a tanged 9.5cm Swedish blade of carbon steel, a block of figured curly birch and slice of antler for forming the handle, a brass bolster, all the leather and cord necessary to form a long Scandinavian style sheath, as well as instructions as how best to proceed. Being carbon steel, it’s worth bearing in mind the blade can rust if left wet, and will stain and blacken over time and use. By purchasing this item you are confirming that you are over the age of 18, and that we may contact you prior to dispatch in order to verify this.
Care Advice
Hand wash only, and never leave soaking. Dry immediately, followed with a light coating of camellia or a mineral oil. Store in a dry environment to prevent rust formation. A sharp knife is a safe knife — use a honing rod to keep a fine edge, and sharpen with a stone when necessary.
Treat the wooden handle with a mineral oil when necessary to condition the wood and prevent warping and cracking.
Avoid getting leather soaking wet, when it is time to clean it a lukewarm damp cloth will do. If the leather has been soaked it should not be dried with a hairdryer or furnace, but rather dried slowly in a warm location. Oil with a leather conditioner to soften the leather every so often, as failing to do so could lead to cracks or tears. Apply a small amount to a cloth and rub into the leather, covering the whole surface. Use friction to heat the leather, allowing the conditioner to soak in, and leave for 30 minutes. Using a clean cloth, wipe away any excess
