An oval willow basket for gathering freshly cut flowers, hand-woven in Worcestershire by Sarah Loughlin who uses several varieties of willow in her practice: Old French, Flanders Red, Black Willow, Harrisons Seedling, and Dicky Meadows. This design makes reference to Spanish Zarzo basket weaving techniques, which were originally used to make cheese draining trays but over time evolved into weaving storage or carrying baskets. The willow is soaked and/or steamed before being painstakingly woven according to precise patterns. Willow baskets are sturdy and long-lasting, as long as they are kept dry and out of direct sunlight (which will fade the willow’s natural colours). Handwoven using Dicky Meadows willow from Somerset. Measures approximately 46cm by 33cm by 20cm.
- Weight g 500g
- Item Dimensions L46 x W33 x H20
- Materials Willow stem variety
