A R Wentworth Bourneville Leather & Pewter Flask, 6oz
£84.00
Ex Tax: £70.00
A traditional pewter 6oz pocket or purse flask with a polished finish, leather band and captive top. Cast and machined by hand in Sheffield by the pewter-smiths of A R Wentworth at the still family run workshops founded in 1949. First produced in the bronze age pewter is an alloy of mostly tin with copper and antimony (no lead these days!) for hardness. About 11cm long, 8.5cm wide, and 2.5cm deep
Care Advice
Wash with hot soapy water, and rinse thoroughly before filling with spirits, and again before each refilling. Do not store spirits in flasks or tankards for periods in excess of 24 hours. Polish exterior with a soft cloth after washing, to maintain a bright lustre.
Avoid getting leather soaking wet, when it is time to clean it a lukewarm damp cloth will do. If the leather has been soaked it should not be dried with a hairdryer or furnace, but rather dried slowly in a warm location. Oil with a leather conditioner to soften the leather every so often, as failing to do so could lead to cracks or tears. Apply a small amount to a cloth and rub into the leather, covering the whole surface. Use friction to heat the leather, allowing the conditioner to soak in, and leave for 30 minutes. Using a clean cloth, wipe away any excess
