Tierra Negra Hand Made Small Serving Spoon
£7.00
Ex Tax: £5.83
A small spoon for serving or eating small plates and bites. Using a method barely changed in 700 years, the spoons are first formed of a rough grey clay and allowed to dry before being covered in a bright terracotta slip. Once dry this is polished using smooth pebbles before firing, during which the addition of dried herbs and grasses transforms the red slip to black. These can be used carefully over a flame or on a hob, as long as sudden sharp changes in temperature are avoided, and are also suitable for use in the oven or microwave. Hand wash only. Measures 16cm in length with the bowl of the spoon measuring 3.5cm in width.
Care Advice
Before first use, wash thoroughly, and partly fill with water. Place in a hot oven for 30 minutes at 200°C to seal the ceramic.
Suitable for heating via any source other than induction. Use wooden utensils only to protect the surface, and any burnt or stuck on residue is best left to soak before cleaning. Dishwasher safe, but to maintain the surface it is recommended to hand wash. Always leave to cool down by itself, and never attempt to speed up the process by dunking into cold water — such a shock temperature difference is likely to shatter the ceramic.
