A stoneware mug, hand thrown for us in Oxfordshire with a stoneware / porcelain mix body and a tenmoku glaze to the interior. Wheel-thrown by Joseph Bull, a studio potter based in Oxfordshire, who trained with Knighton Mill Pottery and the Leach Pottery in St Ives, before establishing his own studio in Wootton. Firing in a salt kiln creates a salt glaze on the outside of the cup, the result of the combination of the firing environment and the introduction of salt into the kiln during the firing, resulting in a distinctive glaze.
