Symy Ong Hand Thrown Salt Glaze Creamer
£28.00
Ex Tax: £23.33
A small hand-thrown creamer with a salt glaze combined with a unique hand-applied shino glaze pattern, hand-thrown for us in stoneware by Jynsym Ong, a mile or so from the Objects of Use store. Each piece is unique, as a result of the salt firing process, which will naturally decorate pieces in different ways, depending on their position in the kiln, often imparting the classic salt glaze dimpled finish. Trained at Clay College, Stoke-On-Trent, Ong then undertook an apprenticeship at Mitoh Gama (Kiln) in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. She often uses a kick wheel to impart a rhythm that is completely dictated by the body to her work. Ong recently set up studio in Oxford, making stoneware pieces which are fired in a gas kiln. Measures approximately 9cm in height and 5-7cm in width.
