Made from polished boxwood, the Tawny Owl is one of the easier calls to play, tapping a finger upon the top hole whilst quivering ones tongue to emulate the ululating hoots of perhaps the most familiar of all the owls. The Tawny Owl is the only Owl present on every continent on the planet. Made by M. François Morel, who spent an idyllic childhood amongst the hills of the Rhône-Alpes region, and now hand crafts these instruments so that he might inspire a greater love of birds and nature. Care Advice
Leave to dry before storing, and remove as much moisture from the interior as possible after playing. Store in a dry environment. Those who have played a woodwind instrument can attest that warming the wood to body temperature will slow condensation, resulting in less interior moisture — placing it under an armpit helps! Condition with a mineral oil every now and then to prevent the wood from drying out too much.
