De Buyer Poêle Paysanne or Country Pan, 28cm
£110.00
Ex Tax: £91.67
A heavy steel, deep French pan traditionally named poêle paysanne — translating literally to peasant or country pan, which indicates the style of cooking this lends itself to. Suited for all types of heat, including open fire and induction. When cared for properly, this carbon steel pan will out-preform any non-stick pan, will last a lifetime, and only improve with age. This pan will not release any harmful chemicals or plastics into your food, and will self-repair if scratched. The silver steel present upon purchase will bloom into a deep black when oil polymerises into the pan during the process of seasoning, creating a fully natural, non-stick coating. Made in, France by de Buyer, who have been making similar pans in the Val-d'Ajo region since 1830. A signature, ‘Mineral B’, beeswax coating is present on the pan for protection and initial seasoning. The pan measures 28cm in diameter with a depth of about 9cm.
Care Advice
Hand wash with a stiff vegetable fibre brush, using either no soap or a very gentle soap such as Marseille White Soap. Avoid soaking. Dry immediately after washing, and either return to the hob to ensure the pan is fully dry, or dry well. Season with oil before first use, and re-season when necessary. Store in a dry environment to prevent the formation of rust. Should rust occur, use an abrasive or rust-remover to remove, and re-season.
