Japanese Hand-Forged Grafting & Harvesting Knife

Japanese Hand-Forged Grafting & Harvesting Knife
£60.00
Ex Tax: £50.00

A hand-forged gardener’s knife from the Zakuri blacksmith’s cooperative of Tosa, Japan. Left still baring witness to the blows of its forging the blade is triple layered, with a core and edge of the renowned ‘White Paper’ steel, an extremely pure and hard carbon steel with an exceptionally fine martensitic structure allowing for hard, fine, and long-lasting edges — although also with a tendency to rust if not kept dry and clean, this edge of this blade should be used with care — no twisting or using against very hard surfaces. Typically used for harvesting and grafting.

By purchasing this item you are confirming that you are over the age of 18, and that we may contact you prior to dispatch in order to verify this. Orders including any bladed items will incur an additional courier age verification charge and legally require delivery to persons aged 18 and over.

Care Advice

Hand wash only, and never leave soaking. Dry immediately, followed with a light coating of camellia or a food safe mineral oil. Store in a dry environment to prevent rust formation. The hard steeled centre of this blade enables razor-thin sharpening, but results in a brittle edge. With this in mind, to prevent chips exceptional care should be taken to avoid bone-in meats such as legs of lamb and chicken thighs, and tough skinned vegetables such as gourds and pumpkins.
