Swiss company Caran D’Ache’s standard edition metal sharpening machine. Caran d'Ache means pencil in Russian and has its roots in the Turkish word "kara-tash" meaning black stone, in reference to graphite. Suitable for sharpening pencils measuring 4-10 mm in diameter, allowing adjustment for the perfect point. Hardly changed since it was created in 1933, the manual crank mechanism creates a moment of pause in an otherwise busy day.
