A general purpose carpenters mallet from Asano Mokkousho of Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, central Japan. With a beech head impregnated with wax for added weight as well as protection and a strong Japanese White Oak handle in Japan these are used with chisels as well as for tapping together joints, or 'encouraging' tight and awkward fits in to place. Also great with a tent for securely driving home rock pegs and especially traditional cleft wood tent pegs. Approximately 33.5cm overall length, with a head 7.5cm wide by 15.5cm high.
