A well balanced Japanese carpenter's hammer with a 300 gram octagonal head Japanese white oak handle. A more subtle tool than its deceptively pure form might suggest, the two end faces are dissimilar, one being ground flat for the clean striking of chisels the other slightly convex allowing nails to be driven flush without damaging the surrounding timber, whilst the flat sides allow for the driving of nails in tighter spaces. Approximately 36cm long with a head of 84mm by 22mm wide.
