Original Admiralty Boatswain's pipe

The original Admiralty Boatswain’s pipe or call (it should never called a whistle) made to an Acme design of 1870, and still used by navies worldwide for ceremonial purposes and for competition piping. Originally designed to convey instructions from the boatswain to sailors high above working the rigging, the high pitched notes can be heard over all but the fiercest gale, and noisiest of children. Each pipe is hand made and tuned in Joseph Hudson’s Birmingham factory to produce a full range of notes.
