Worcestershire willow berry basket
A woven willow ‘Berig’ (old English for berry) basket, woven in Worcestershire by Sarah Loughlin using three varieties of willow: Old French, Flanders Red and Dicky Meadows. The handle is formed from a single arched stem of Harrisons seedling willow. The willow is soaked and / or steamed before being painstakingly woven according to precise patterns. Willow baskets are sturdy and long-lasting, as long as they are kept dry and out of direct sunlight (which will fade the willow’s natural colours).
