Symy Ong Hand-Thrown Dipping Bowl, Tenmoku
£18.00
A small, shallow tenmoku-glazed dipping bowl with a raw, unglazed footed base — perfect for serving sauces, condiments or bite-sized snacks. Due to the handmade nature of this object, each dipping bowl will have slight variations and is entirely unique — the tenmoku glaze will move into hints of a warm brown around the rim where the glaze is thinner.
Hand thrown for us in stoneware by Jynsym Ong — a mile or so from the Objects of Use store. Trained at Clay College, Stoke-On-Trent, Ong then undertook an apprenticeship at Mitoh Gama (Kiln) in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. She often uses a kick wheel to impart a rhythm that is completely dictated by the body to her work. Ong recently set up studio in Oxford, making stoneware pieces which are fired in a gas kiln.
Measures approximately 9.5cm diameter, 5cm footed base, 3cm high.
