A classic ‘elddon’ (tinder-box) natural fire-lighting kit from the forests of Swedish Lapland consisting of a hand-forged fire striker steel, a couple of pieces of flint, some amadou tinder - made by treating and drying the fungus Fomes fomentarius - and prized since ancient times for its nourishment of fire (even being found on the Hauslabjoch mummy), some year dried grass, ‘fat-wood’ - resinous shavings from pine stumps, as well as charcloth - highly flammable blackened linen. An excellent introductory kit.
