Japanese bamboo tea strainer

A tightly hand-woven tea strainer, made from split bamboo, bound and reinforced by fine, lighter coloured strips of rattan. Used for centuries as part of the tea ceremony these strainers are ideal for use with loose whole-leaf green and herbal teas, and with their depth can be used either with a teapot or perhaps best directly in the cup allowing the leaves to circulate freely in the hot water until perfectly brewed. Best allowed to dry and air thoroughly between uses, and stored away from direct sunlight. Measures approximately 17cm long, by 8cm diameter, with a depth of 9cm.
