Sloyd (straight) woodcarving knife
Superior wood carving knives from Sweden with alloyed carbon steel blades and polished rosewood handles and supplied with vegetable tanned leather sheaths. The Sloyd has a straight tapering blade of about 80mm, whilst the left or right hooked (not handed) knives have a single sided Ɂ shaped blade of about 50mm. Both are made of alloyed carbon steel tempered to a hardness of 60 HRC. Left or right hooked crook knives are typically used in either hands for cuts away or towards the user - the direction determined chiefly by grain and form.
