Japanese oak Kakugi mallet
£19.00

A narrow rectangular headed lighter weight Japanese Oak carpenters mallet from Asano Mokkousho of Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, central Japan. Narrow, almost square edged mallets of this type are typically used for close and more delicate joinery work such as carefully tapping home pegs during the assembly or disassembly of kumiki joints - the head shape doesn't really lend itself to chisel or carving work, although it could still be useful here in tighter spaces. With an overall length of about 30cm, and a head of approximately 3.5cm wide by 8.5cm deep by 12cm high.
