A traditional 'Red Ware' lidded butter dish, slip cast in red terracotta clay and glazed in the traditional Rockingham glaze in Stoke-on-Trent. The deep brown of the Rockingham glaze is the source of the 'Brown Betty' moniker awarded to the traditional teapots made in this area since the end of the 17th century. Goes perfectly with the Brown Betty teapot, or happy to stand alone.
