Long-handled French chestnut pan
A carbon steel holed pan with a 70cm handle for the proper roasting of chestnuts, either over an open fire, a barbecue, or possibly the flame of a gas hob. These pans can be seasoned with oil, although if used solely for chestnuts this is only necessary for the protection it grants the steel. Made by France by de Buyer famed for their almost indestructible frying pans and who have been making similar since the 1830s.
