Chantry Classic Knife Sharpener, Ivory
On permanent display at MOMA New York, and based around a replaceable mechanism originally designed for use by the meat processing industry and in unchanged production since 1929. The Chantry sharpener consists of 2 rolling spring loaded butchers steels, mounted at the perfect sharpening angle within a stable, heavy, easy grip, cast iron case. It provides a foolproof method for sharpening European pattern stainless or carbon steel knives — they are simply drawn through, without the application of excessive pressure as if slicing bread.
