Aluminium double-sided oroshiki (grater)
A double sided oroshiki or Japanese grater of pressed and punched aluminium from a small metal workshop in Osaka city. Typically the rough side would be used for daikon, ginger, or garlic, whilst the finer side would be used to produce smooth wasabi paste, but both can be used for the pulping of fruits and hard crisp vegetables, be that for condiments or baby food. Unlike western graters these remain unperforated meaning the pulp is collected on the surface and usually collected using a small brush. Measures approximately 24cm by 12cm wide.
