A woven willow ‘Bredan’ (old English for weaving) basket, woven in Worcestershire by Sarah Loughlin using five varieties of willow: Old French, Flanders Red, Black Willow, Harrisons Seedling and Dicky Meadows. Side handles are formed by two arching rows of woven willow. The willow is soaked and / or steamed before being painstakingly woven according to precise patterns. Willow baskets are sturdy and long-lasting, as long as they are kept dry and out of direct sunlight (which will fade the willow’s natural colours). Dimensions (approx): Base diameter 41cm, Height (to top of handle) 34cm.
