Ihada sand-cast shelf brackets, small
£110.00

A pair of hand sand-cast solid brass shelf brackets from a foundry founded in 1897 in the Japanese city of Takaoka in the Toyama Prefecture. With minimal chasing, the castings are largely left ‘i-hada’ — a raw cast surface maintaining any texture or discolouration drawn from the sand into which they were poured — a manifestation of their solidity, manufacture,
and also their uniqueness. These brackets form part of a series of home-wares developed in partnership with Oji Masanori in order to raise awareness amongst a wider public of both the possibilities of the material and the remarkable skills of its artisan producers. Each measures approximately 120mm x 65mm x 30mm, supplied with fixings.
