Nepalese hand made rattan coat hanger
A heat formed and bound rattan cane hanger from Nepal, with a neat and simple shape. Rattan is a kind of climbing palm or vine the cultivation of which is being encouraged by some conservationists as a means of preserving the forest growth on which it thrives. Obviously the commercialisation of any old growth forest is to varying degrees problematic, but rattan is being utilised as a means to prevent the far more devastating logging that would otherwise occur. Approximately 40cm by 22cm.
