Joseph Bull Stoneware Lidded Jar, Ash Glaze
A small lidded jar, to hold salt, sugar or spices, hand thrown for us in Oxfordshire. With a stoneware / porcelain mix body and an ash glaze, which is gas-fired to create a beautiful depth to the glaze. This ash glaze gives a beautiful flecked crackled blue, with no two pieces coming out the same. Tenmoku glazed to the inside. Solidly thrown, giving added stability. Wheel-thrown by Joseph Bull, a studio potter based in Oxfordshire, who trained with Knighton Mill Pottery and the Leach Pottery in St Ives, before establishing his own studio in Wootton, Oxfordshire. 9.5cm tall, 8cm diameter, approximately.
