A set of 3 oval Shaker boxes, handmade of cherry to the elegantly simple and surprisingly Modern 19th century designs. Lightweight and breathable but with tight fitting lids, boxes such as these were used throughout the Shaker community, in their homes, farms, and workshops for the keeping of all dry goods - foodstuffs, seeds, keepsakes, even the small copper nails with which they are bound. The 3 sit neatly inside each other and roughly measure 18.5x12.5x6.5cm, 15x10x5.7cm, and 11.5x7.8x4.5cm.
