Spanish flower hoe
A fairly long handled hand forged hoe with a lightly sharpened spade (♠) shaped black lacquered steel head. Slightly curved and angled back this is used with a swinging action to cut through and break up dry, compacted, or root bound soil. Hand produced in Catalonia at the workshops of Cuchillería Pallarès the one surviving knife and tool maker in a town once dotted with small manufacturers. Now with a workforce of 15 the management still split their time between administrative necessity and manual craft production. About 50cm, total length, with a blade of approximately 13cm tip to shaft by 10cm wide.
