Sentaihasami, Japanese vine shears
£90.00

With double layered blades for a durable edge these secateurs are otherwise hot-forged from a single piece of differentially tempered steel - without joints or welds that might work harden or wear loose. Pleasingly heavy in the hand these are stronger shears intended to deal with the thicker (up to 20mm diameter), stronger, and more elastic stems of vines, shrubs, or small trees. Pivoting on a hardened adjustable bolt, and with a removable spring they are easily dissembled for cleaning and resharpening. Like many Japanese cutting tools these are not stainless steel so can and will rust if left wet so should be stored dry and possible oiled if left for extended periods. Some darkening and staining of the blades is to be expected.
