Siiliharja, Finnish snow brush

The Siiliharja — hedgehog — is a long bristled birch and union blend (bass and tampico) elegantly curved hand broom from Finland, where it might typically be used to brush snow, ice, dirt, dust, and mud from clothes, boots, and entrance stairs. The vegetable fibre bistles are tough, water resistant, moderately stiff, yet because of their length, flexible enough to sweep rather than scrub making this the ideal hand brush for the threshold. Handmade by the visually impaired craftspeople of a Vantaa based Finnish cooperative. With an overall length in the region of 70cm, and a head of very roughly 20cm
