Finnish hand broom, Viska
£22.50
Perhaps one of the most ancient of brush designs, and one which has been slowly perfected through millennia of binding, weaving, and tying. Made only of rice straw (sorghum) wound by flax twine and with a wooden peg driven into the handle to tighten and secure the fibres, the brush possesses a simplicity and ingenuity of construction that puts many a modernist classic to shame. Handmade by the visually impaired craftspeople of a Vantaa based Finnish cooperative. About 43cm long.
