A salt glazed faceted candle holder, hand-thrown and carved for us in iron-rich stoneware by Symy Ong, a mile or so from the Objects of Use store. Perfect for holding one of our hand dipped beeswax Taper candles, or Christmas Tree Candles. Ong, who apprenticed for a year with a Japanese wood-fired pottery, has recently set up studio in Oxford, making stoneware pieces which are fired in a gas kiln. Firing in a salt kiln creates a salt glaze, the result of the combination of the firing environment and the introduction of salt into the kiln during the firing, creating a distinctive glaze style. Measures approximately 3cm diameter, 4cm high.
