An elegantly footed miso bowl with lid in a traditional design, named 'Mubyo', meaning 'six bottle gourds' in Japanese. The shape represents the calyx of a bottle gourd, a Japanese auspicious motif that brings happiness to the table. Ideal for clear or miso soup, the lid helps to preserve the heat of the contents before serving. Made of red earthenware, the exterior is beautifully overglaze-painted in black by hand. The interior is glazed in a natural off-white, using a traditional Japanese "kohiki" technique, where the clay is covered with a layer of white powder-clay before transparent glazing. Made in Japan. Measures 112mm in diameter, 86mm high, capacity 310cc. Microwave safe, Not dishwasher or oven safe.
