Left-handed kogama, a small sickle hoe
A small professional grade weeding hoe hand forged of Hitachi SK steel fixed to a magnolia wood handle. From Asano Mokkousho, of Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture Japan. A rare left-handed Japanese made razor type hoe, the angle is set and the blade sharpened for optimum weeding efficiency helping to minimise fatigue whilst working. In tighter situations the hoe can be used point down for more accurate work. Being carbon steel these can rust if left wet or stored damp, and are best lightly oiled if left for extended periods. The blade measure about 10.5cm, the handle 24cm.
