Oxfordshire butter dish, Joseph Bull, ash
£55.00
A traditional butter dish comprising a flat dish with a domed lid, hand thrown for us in Oxfordshire. Designed to hold half a standard block of butter. With a stoneware / porcelain mix body and a Harwell apple ash glaze, which is gas-fired to create a beautiful depth to the glaze. This ash glaze gives a tremendously varied result, ranging from light green through blush and violet to dark grey, with no two pieces coming out the same. Wheel-thrown by Joseph Bull, a studio potter based in Oxfordshire, before establishing his own studio in Wootton, Oxfordshire.
