Hand-Thrown Tea Light Holder, Salt & Ash Glaze
£22.50
A charming tea light holder, or even seasoning dish made by Symy Ong, a mile or so from the Objects of Use store. The interior of this holder is glazed with a home-made ash glaze, whilst the exterior is that of a natural salt glaze. Ong, who apprenticed for a year with a Japanese wood-fired pottery, has recently set up studio in Oxford, making stoneware pieces which are fired in a gas kiln. Firing in a salt kiln creates a salt glaze, the result of the combination of the firing environment and the introduction of salt into the kiln during the firing, creating a distinctive glaze style. Measures approximately 6cm in diameter with a height of 3cm — though please note that the hand thrown nature of this product may allow for some variation in size. One supplied — tea light not included.
