Symy Ong hand-thrown table jug, shino
A curvaceous table jug, hand-thrown and assembled for us in stoneware by Jynsym Ong, a mile or so from the Objects of Use store. Lined with an iron-rich shino glaze, the unglazed exterior is decorated with shino glaze, added with the hand. Holds around two pints. Ong, who apprenticed for a year with a Japanese wood-fired pottery, has since set up studio in Oxford, making stoneware pieces which are fired in a gas kiln. Height 17cm, diameter 12.5cm, approximately, holds around 1l.
