A fuki-urushi lacquered sakura cased small desk clock, which (mechanism aside) is made entirely by the hand of Iba Takahito in Biei City, close to Asahikawa amongst the forests and highlands of Hokkaido. The face is letter press printed by Iba-san’s wife, whilst the blacked steel hands are also cut and shaped by Iba-san himself. The case, made with four hand-cut joints to ensure optimum stability, has seven coats of natural lacquer, each requiring a minimum of 24 hours curing in a humidity and temperature controlled chamber. Measures approximately 140mm wide, 100mm high, with a depth of about 40mm.
