A double sided hoe forged in Tsubame-Sanjo, a city famed for its multitude of smithies and small metalworking workshops. Made of Japanese carbon steel, with a shaped white oak handle, secured through the eye with a steel wedge which is simply knocked tighter as required. Thought to resemble a cuttlefish (ika) this obviously versatile tool benefits from the added weight, balance, and strength its two bladed construction affords. Used for chopping out stubborn weeds and roots, cultivating soil, and raking out debris between bedding plants or vegetables. Very approximately 37cm x 23cm x 7cm.
