Genuine stanniol (tinfoil) lametta tinsel from Eppstein in Germany. Originating as extruded silver strand in the early 1600's, lametta was by the 19th century more commonly made from various tin alloyed foils, which were cheaper and less prone to tarnishing. Being heavier than its aluminium and metalised PVC derivatives authentic lametta has the weight to properly drape over branches, hanging like fine icicles sparkling in the fairy light. No longer in production - anywhere - so once it’s gone, it really is gone. 28g.
