Poterie Digoin Pouring & Mixing Bowl No.10
£65.00

A heavy, part-glazed 'grès' stoneware spouted mixing bowl from Digoin in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of eastern central France. Glazed to the rim and interior, left unglazed to the outside - their weight and thermal mass make them the ideal pastry bowl, whilst the spout is useful for batters or for pouring cake mixtures in tins. Similar have been hand made since 1875 by Poterie Digoin, in a northern Loire valley area rich in clay and silt mineral deposits, but also as importantly at a major junction in the French canal network, whose distribution allowed the nascent pottery to quickly establish itself at the heart of the French kitchen. 5l capacity, 33cm diameter.
