A four US quart (3.8l), pre-seasoned cast iron dutch oven, with a heavy tight fitting lid, and three stubby legs. The Dutch oven is designed to be used directly in a fire, whether at home or camp, with coals or embers piled under, around, and on top of the specially lipped lid — although it also could be used in an oven. The very heavy and thick cast iron retains and helps distribute the heat of even the most erratic wind blown fires. Made at the Lodge foundry, Tennessee.
