Zhang Xiaoquan scissors
Founded in Huangshan in 1643 by Zhang Sijia, but named after his son, with whom new workshops were set up in Hangzhou having fled there as refugees after an invasion of Manchu troops. In the years since they have been used and treasured by Qing emperors, and cited as exemplars of Chinese craftsmanship by Mao Zedong. It is said every household in China owns a pair of their scissors. Stainless steel with brass bound handles, marked with the dragon and peacock symbols for luck and longevity. With a cutting edge of about 7cm, and a 19.5cm total length.
