French rolling pin

French rolling pin

A tapering French style rolling pin made in Maine, New England, from rock maple a wood so renowned for its hardness it is commonly used for the production of high grade drumsticks, and known in tree form as the sugar maple, sauce of the syrup. The French rolling pin is often favoured by pastry chefs, as its narrow girth and gently curving shape lends greater feel to the rolling out of very fine rounds. 51cm in length with a diameter at centre of about 36mm reducing to about 19mm at the ends.
